    William Henry Sheppard was one of the earliest African Americans to become a missionary for the Presbyterian Church. He spent 20 years in Africa, primarily in and around the Congo Free State, and is best known for his efforts to publicize the atrocities committed against the Kuba and other Congolese peoples by King Leopold II's Force Publique.

    Sergeant Major Gilbert "Hashmark" Johnson was one of the first African Americans to enlist in the United States Marine Corps and one of the first African American drill instructors in the Marine Corps. Johnson was known as “Hashmark” because he had more service stripes than rank stripes. He retired in 1959 after 32 years of service in the U.S. armed forces, including 17 years as a Marine.

    Biography

    Brian Witherspoon is an American former professional football who was a cornerback and return specialist in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Stillman Tigers and was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2008. After his football career, he became a track and field runner.

    Teddy Keaton is an American football coach. He is the head football coach for Clark Atlanta University, a position he has held since 2024. He was the head football coach for Allen University from 2018 to 2023. Keaton was born in Brewton, Alabama. Keaton previously served as the running backs coach of the Miles College Golden Bears. Keaton graduated from Stillman College in 1999 and served as an assistant coach under Theophilus Danzy through the 2004 season. From Stillman, he served as the defensive coordinator with the Odessa Roughnecks and as head coach of both the Lakeland Thunderbolts and Huntington Heroes arena football teams before returning to college coaching. He served as defensive backs coach for one season before becoming offensive coordinator at Webber International University between 2008–2010. On December 2, 2010, Keaton was hired to replace L. C. Cole as head coach at Stillman. After the 2015 season, Stillman discontinued its football program. Keaton's record at Stillman was 27 wins and 26 losses.
