He has directed the crime film Chopper (2000) for which he won the AACTA Award for Best Direction, the Western drama film The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007), the neo-noir crime film Killing Them Softly (2012), and the biographical psychological drama Blonde (2022).     Lidia Alma Thorpe is an Australian politician. She is of English and Aboriginal (Gunnai, Gunditjmara and Djab Wurrung) descent. She has been a senator for Victoria since 2020 and is the first Aboriginal senator from that state. She was a member of the Australian Greens until February 2023, when she quit the party over disagreements concerning the proposed Indigenous Voice to Parliament, and became a key figure in the "progressive No" campaign against the Voice referendum in October 2023. Thorpe served as the Greens' deputy leader in the Senate from June to October 2022.

    Donald Philip Tregonning OAM was an Australian professional tennis player and coach. Tregonning, a student of Melbourne coach Mick Sweetnam, was a member of the international amateur and professional tennis communities, reaching the mixed doubles semi finals of the 1953 Australian Open, playing twice in the quarter-finals of doubles competitions at the Australian Open (1949, 1953) and reaching the quarter-finals of the Wembley Professional Championships in 1953. Tregonning played in a famous 1953 Australian Championships Round 1 match in which the umpire left the grounds to "go to (his) tea".
