    Biography

    John Jordan "Buck" O'Neil Jr. was an American first baseman and manager in the Negro American League, mostly with the Kansas City Monarchs. After his playing days, he worked as a scout and became the first African American coach in Major League Baseball. In his later years he became a popular and renowned speaker and interview subject, helping to renew widespread interest in the Negro leagues, and played a major role in establishing the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Missouri. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022 as an executive.

    Alvin Brown is an American politician from Florida who served as mayor of Jacksonville, Florida, from 2011 to 2015. He was the first African American to be elected to that position. Brown succeeded John Peyton as mayor after winning the 2011 mayoral election. In the 2015 race, he lost his re-election bid to Republican Lenny Curry.

    Tracie Davis is an American politician and former teacher who currently serves as the Senator for District 5 in the Florida Senate as a member of the Democratic Party. After former Democratic representative Reggie Fullwood pleaded guilty to two counts of federal fraud, Davis was selected by the Duval County Democratic Party to replace him on the ticket for District 13 in the Florida House of Representatives.
