    Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician and attorney who served as the 49th vice president of the United States from 2021 to 2025 under President Joe Biden. She was the first female U.S. vice president, making her the highest-ranking female official in U.S. history. She was also the first African-American and the first Asian-American vice president. From 2017 to 2021, Harris served as a U.S. senator representing California. She was the attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017 and the district attorney of San Francisco from 2004 to 2011. A member of the Democratic Party, she was the party's nominee in the 2024 presidential election.
