Özlem Çerçioğlu is a Turkish politician who has served as the mayor of Aydın since 2009. A member of the Justice and Development Party (AKP), she was previously a Republican People's Party (CHP) member for 23 years, where she became Aydın's first female mayor in 2009. Her defection to the ruling AKP in 2025 saw the fall of the CHP stronghold for the first time in decades.
