Joaquín Navarro-Valls, M.D. was a Spanish journalist, physician and academic who served as the Director of the Holy See Press Office from 1984 to 2006. His role as the press liaison between the Vatican and the world press corps gave him perhaps the highest visibility of any one person in the Vatican during the long reign of Pope John Paul II, with the exception of the Pope himself. He resigned his post July 11, 2006 and was replaced by Father Federico Lombardi. Gabriel Miró Ferrer, known as Gabriel Miró, was a Spanish modernist writer. In 1900 he finished his studies in law at the University of Granada and the University of Valencia. He focused mainly on writing novels, but also collaborated to a large number of newspapers such as: El Heraldo, Los Lunes de El Imparcial, ABC and El Sol. He was among the contributors of the Madrid-based avant-garde magazine Prometeo between 1908 and 1912. Antonio Vidal-Puig is a Spanish medical doctor and scientist who works as a Professor of Molecular Nutrition and Metabolism at the University of Cambridge (UK), best known for advancing the concept that pharmacological targeting of brown fat may serve to treat overweight and obesity in affected individuals, as well as for introducing the concept of adipose tissue "expandability" as an important factor in the pathogenesis of insulin resistance in the context of positive energy balance. His published work focuses on areas such as adipose tissue metabolism and lipotoxicity, regulation of insulin secretion, and the pathophysiology of metabolic syndrome, obesity, and type 2 diabetes. In April 2024, he was granted the rank of doctor honoris causa from the King Juan Carlos University, Madrid.

José Antonio Carrillo de la Plata is a Spanish mathematician primarily known for his contributions in applied partial differential equations, numerical analysis, many particle systems and kinetic theory. His works make use of methods from functional analysis, calculus of variations, optimal transport, gradient descent and entropy methods. Currently he is Professor of Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations at the Mathematical Institute of the University of Oxford where he started in April 2020. He is also Tutorial Fellow at The Queen's College Oxford in Applied Mathematics. He was previously Chair in Applied and Numerical Analysis at the Department of Mathematics, Imperial College London, United Kingdom, a position he held from October 2012 till March 2020. He served as Chair of the Applied Mathematics Committee of the European Mathematical Society during the period 2014–2017. He was formerly ICREA Research Professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain, during the period 2003–2012, and held positions at the University of Granada, Spain, and the University of Texas at Austin, United States during the years 1992–2003. He was recognized with the SeMA prize (2003) and the GAMM Richard Von-Mises prize (2006) for young researchers. He was a holder of the Royal Society Wolfson Fellowship during the period 2012–2017.
