    Robert Menendez is an American lawyer and politician serving as the senior United States senator from New Jersey, a seat he has held since 2006.     William James Durant was an American historian and philosopher, best known for his 11-volume work, The Story of Civilization, which contains and details the history of Eastern and Western civilizations. It was written in collaboration with his wife, Ariel Durant, and published between 1935 and 1975. He was earlier noted for The Story of Philosophy (1926), described as "a groundbreaking work that helped to popularize philosophy".

    Ras Jua Baraka is an American educator, author, and Democratic Party politician who is the 40th and current mayor of Newark, New Jersey. He was previously a member of the Municipal Council of Newark and the principal of the city's Central High School. Baraka was first elected mayor of Newark on May 13, 2014, and he was sworn in as the city's 40th mayor at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on July 1, 2014. He won re-election in 2018 and 2022.
